The Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation has established a scholarship fund to commemorate the memory of Bill Schnittman, an OKC National High Performance Center athlete who died on December 21. The William A. ?Bill? Schnittman Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to deserving junior rowers to continue Bill?s dream and passion for rowing on the Oklahoma River.
The OKC Boathouse Foundation will further honor Bill with the creation of the Schnittman Cup, which will be awarded annually to a competitive crew at the Oklahoma City University Head of the Oklahoma Regatta. This year the event will take place October 5 and 6 on the Oklahoma River.
?We are saddened by the loss of Bill, who exemplified so many of the attributes that our high performance athletes bring to the OKC High Performance Center and the community,? said OKC Boathouse Foundation Executive Director Mike Knopp.
?Bill was an inspiration to many and by honoring him with a memorial scholarship and cup, athletes will continue to be inspired.?
